I am a landscape painter who has been painting, primarily on-site, since the early 1990s. A fine arts graduate of CSULB I was born in London and moved to the U.S. with my family at the age of 4. The last few years I have been painting in the relatively older regions of Southern California that were developed in the 1920s and 1930s. These neighborhoods tend to have diverse styles of homes and well established landscaping and trees. At the same time they are constantly changing and disappearing; often to be replaced with buildings that have no consideration for proportion and the surrounding environment. I try to capture these places with paint. I focus on light, color, rhythm and patterns of buildings and foliage to evoke the rapidly disappearing neighborhoods. By documenting places on the brink of change I try to evoke in light, color and texture a moment in time.
